Dinku, Megha bag Sub-jr National compound titles

Puksrambam Dinku Singh and Megha Agarwal were crowned champions in 50+50 metre compound boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively on the penultimate day of the 37th Sub-junior National Archery Championship here at Kalinga Stadium today.

Services lad Dinku Singh, who hails from Imphal and hones his skills at Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre, Ahmedabad (Maharashtra), took the gold with a total score 694. Ayuvan Singh (Rajasthan) and Mayank Rawat (Haryana) secured the silver and bronze with 682 and 678 points respectively.

Already an international, Dinku said the title triumph here would spur him to do well in the Junior World Championship, scheduled to be held later this year in Argentina. ``Now I am preparing for the World meet under the guidance of my coach Brijesh Kumar. I am very focused on the target ahead and winning the gold here has boosted my confidence,’’ stated Dinku, who won one silver and one bronze in the 2016 Asia Cup.
